A percentage with a denominator
Much of what an assistant cites (encyclopedias, government pages, universities) cannot be won by any honest tactic. Measuring your share against everything makes every brand look like it is failing. The Influenceable Share measures the winnable part of what gets cited, and how much of it you hold.
Reachable and not
Editorial coverage, forums, and company sites, whether yours, a competitor’s, or a partner’s, can all be earned or competed for. Reference works and institutional sources cannot. An encyclopedia entry is decided by that encyclopedia’s rules, and the tactics people use to force one get brands penalized. The share is worked out over the first group only.
What the number sounds like
Instead of “you appear in 8% of answers”, a figure with no ceiling attached, you get a sentence you can act on. It says how much of the citation pool on your questions is winnable, and which part of it you hold. That is a number someone can argue a budget with.
